Thank you to everyone who came and supported us on this very important day. We had a very enthusiastic turnout and almost everyone who lives in Mykonos passed by to vote. Thanks to our lawyer Aleka Dimou who made sure that our overseas members were also allowed to vote. As so many of you do not live here this was extremely important to us.
The election was controlled by Manos Rigas our president, Adonis Kousathanas a member for many years and Mr Skias from the Mayors office.
From 2pm until 5pm we had a constant stream of people coming in to offer their good wishes and to vote. At 5pm the votes were counted.
So it is with pleasure I can tell you that our new committee is as follows:-
- Sharon Graham - President
- Adonis Roumeliotis - Vice President
- Barbara Hehne - Bookeeper
- Riana Tolken - Secretary
- Lorraine Pouloudis - Vice Secretary
We also have in reserve Bernard Adams, Kiki Demeroukis and Olga Panagiotopoulou.
For our checking committee we have as follows:-
- Andriani Theoharis
- Joannna Heimonas
- Tina Madden
and Julie Maloney in reserve.
Tomorrow we will have our first new committee meeting to discuss the following important points.
- Winter feeding programme
- Finding a good piece of land in which to house our strays temporarily whilst housing them here and abroad.
- More talks with the Town Hall to find a paid worker to assist us with our daily work.
- Cat sterilisation programme for the winter.
- Christmas bazaar.
- Calander for next summer.
- How to get all of our members active even in a very small way.
With this new committee we feel that more weekly or monthly contact with our members is essential so you can all follow what is happening. For any of you that would like to help in any small way please let us know.
As the new president of MAW I hope to bring more contact with our members and greater co-operation and respect with the Town Hall. I believe that making things better is not such a huge task if everyone is willing to play just a small part.
Thank you for your support and I promise to do my very best,
Sharon Graham
